Nice post on the role of synthesizers in analysis and design: “Synthesizers help take the inputs, distill them into something meaningful and articulate and output them in compelling, meaningful ways.”

I’ve been thinking about a new theme ever since I moved my blog back to WordPress, and I really like the #2 (Moo Point) here.

Don’t dare stop using Barthelme for Moo-Point!
He he. Kidding, of course. That’s a fine design I wouldn’t be shy using myself.
I love Barthelme and probably will keep using it, although I’ve been tweaking the code somewhat to suit my needs.
After trying out Moo Point, I like the style but don’t like what Sandbox-based designs do to my widget-enabled sidebar: Sandbox seems to be adding on some extra things that replicate (imperfectly) things that I already have in the sidebar. For example, I like the search field at the top, and have it there, but it appears again at the start of the Sandbox sidebar below my widgets. Feeds are also duplicated, and are incorrect since I use Feedburner feeds. If I could turn off the Sandbox sidebar mashing, I might give it another try.
