There's a newly-released ECM maturity model, and I love that it's being developed in such an open process: this new blog for one, plus that the work is licensed under Creative Commons.

All the FASTForward 09 video interviews in one place, so that you don't have to go searching around through the blog for them.

Very interesting piece on software audits. It appears that vendors, finding themselves not able to sell their quota, are making it up by auditing licences in use and charging the top-up fees. Some good hints on how to handle a software audit.

Gartner's MQ for BPMS, February 2009. I linked to this on one of the vendor's sites, where you can download it in PDF form, but here it is for free on Gartner's site if you don't want to have to register at a vendor's site. I hope that the vendors aren't paying a lot to put this on their sites, considering that Gartner just publishes it themselves.

Business process improvement remains the #1 priority for CIOs.

Sandy – As a vendor, you do have to pay for the rights to distribute the MQ. Gartner gives you two options for distribution – PDF or through a reprint link they provide you. This year, we at Lombardi chose the link route. So, anyone registered in our database got an email with the link. We don’t make you register again, because you are already in our database. You cannot get to this link from searching on gartner.com.
From reading the link you posted here, I am pretty sure you got our email – because you posted our link (note the lombardi in the URL). This link to the report should not be available to anyone who has not registered with Lombardi in the past. You may disagree – but registering with us in 30 seconds does not seem like a high price for a report that retails for almost $2,000.
I suspect that Gartner will ask you to remove this link. If that happens, you can always redirect people to http://www.lombardisoftware.com/bpm-gartner-magic-quadrant.php where they can still register to get the report.
In the world with blogging, this old school approach of licensing reports for limited distribution does seem, well, old school. It has broken a couple of times in the first week of this report. But that is a much bigger topic.
Best,
Jim
I didn’t look the URL, I got it from Steiner Carlsen link blog. I imagine that it is well distributed across the internet by now.
