Keith Swenson and Jean-Jacques Dubray discuss "unpredictable work", that is, processes that cannot be defined at design-time. Keith says that unpredictable work is all around, JJ says that if you think it's unpredictable, then you just don't understand the process. Great back-and-forth conversation, plus a healthy debate in the comments.

Andrew McAfee ponders on lightweight workflow; although he talks about Google Wave and Salesforce Chatter, there are some common issues with what we've been discussing in BPM. For example, integration with enterprise IT systems (think events), and defining a collaboration on the fly. In any case, they're all better for doing this than using email.
