There are some that are non-Eclipse desktop discovery tools: Process Master and Savvion's process modeler (now owned by Progress Software) are two. I believe that these are both Windows apps, since that's where the bulk of the market is, so you may have to try them out in Parallels if you have to carry a Mac.

Sandy

Doesn't have to be desktop (though working on a plane is a regular requirement :-)). But with respect, your answer illustrates part of the problem. Eclipse is not, IMHO, a framework that can be set up by business folks. And most SMEs don't have (or want to buy) expertise to do so!

Yes on capture and document only! The rest is a dream.

Cheers

Graham, I don't know of any tools specifically for the Mac, although there are many that are either web-based or run in an Eclipse framework so likely would run on a Mac. By "BPM", it appears that you mean process discovery, that is, mapping and documenting the processes, but not creating an executable process. There are many of these both in the cloud and in desktop versions, including those offered for free on the web in various online BPM communities such as ARISalign and BPM Blueworks. Do you specifically need a desktop tool versus a web-based tool?

Sandy,

Do you know of any simple (by which i mean easy to use, intuitive, etc) BPM tools that run on the desktop (prefer Mac) and can be used by BUSINESS managers and small businesses to capture the flows that need to be in place. It can do no more than tat and it would be good.

My dream has always been that there is such a tool that is a front to a 'press a button and make it happen form cloud + desktop components' type service.

Perhaps one day.....
