Why it's important to have open source vendors implementing BPMN, even if you use a propriety product: open source commoditizes the baseline functionality, forcing the proprietary vendors to create more and better features in their products to keep you interested.

I was there at PegaWORLD when Connie Moore of Forrester said that their research showed this. I tend to agree, although not sure that the number is as high at 50%: many people are "promoted" into a BA role just because they're a highly-skilled user, not because they have any skills or training in business analysis.

A free virtual conference on event processing, on June 7th. Some good presentations scheduled, although it looks like the only real social/interaction is via standard Q&A.
